Devizes Cricket Club

As a prelude to the 6 a-sides, the 4ths are staging a non profit ( well, just a bit of raising) fun evening featuring a giant Wii contest, giant snakes and ladders, Jenga and the like for all the youngsters and oldies.
A small card table will be available for those chancers amongst the club, and theres a lot of us out there.
A free guided tour of the pitch is available for those seeking to establish their bases for the following days events.

Skipper falls foul of rogue weather and blames Michael Fish, (there are no hurricanes). Following copious dsicussions with local weather hunters a decision is made to scrub the match with Box, the sky was as black as ink, with water entering the vice captain and the surrounding wicket looking like a skid pan it was time for a decision.
I made the decion based on the locale, the prevailing wind, wet feet of the forecasting team and the rain emission from above.
Its doubly sensitive for me as having studied hard for at least 3 weeks on the art of meteriology and seeking a Lectureship in this subject I failed abysmally to note that sunshine was behind the pouring rain that stretched from Cornwall to Wiltshire, so my future as a long term forecaster is now just one of those disappointments . I do apologise for not being aware after the event as it seems to me that we possess at the club, weather forcasters who can get it right 2 hours after the event.I would have included a picture but it was overcast. regards to all those who assisted but not to Michael Fish, he should never have encouraged me. My apologies to the local papers who I believe printed my prediction of a storm in a tea cup. Des Read AKA Errant Weatherman.
