the new name for the DCC Junior Section
Welcome to Devizes Cricket Academy. You will notice that we’ve changed the name of the junior section. We hope this gives a more professional feel and gives the idea that we want to help all the children at the club to progress in their cricket skills.We are looking forward to a new season with some changes in style and some new faces.

Coaching times and subs have been changed- see below for details.
PLEASE NOTE – From this year the club will expect a parent/responsible adult to remain during training for all children from the Under-7s, 9s and 11s. The behaviour of a minority of children last year made it at times almost impossible to coach adequately or safely. We hope the presence of a parent will help with this.
 
Requests to parents – The academy can only be successful with your help. As well as bringing the kids along, why not get involved in helping with the coaching? – it’s fun and can give you ideas to work on with them back home. Just ask any of the coaches if you want to help. Also, a big plea to help with transport. Every Sunday at least one of the junior teams will be playing, and often an away game. It’s a big headache for the team manager to organise enough transport to get 11 children plus manager and equipment to away games. If you can help with transport on match days please let the manager of your child’s section know.

Subscriptions  2008
Under 13 and 15    £45/year to include coaching and match fees
Under 7, 9 & 11    £25/year to include coaching but match fees extra at £2/match

    U7-11        7-8pm Sunday 24th Feb & 9th March, 6-7pm Sunday 2nd & 16th March
    U13-15    8-9pm Sunday 24th Feb & 9th March, 7-8pm Sunday 2nd & 16th March

Outdoor Training at Devizes Sports Club
    U7-9        6.15-7.30pm Tuesdays
    U11-15    6.15-8pm Wednesdays

Junior Welcome to Cricket Day
    1pm-4pm Saturday 19th April
    Come down to the club to meet up with your new season’s coaches, bring your friends and family to introduce them to the club. There will be cheese and wine for your parents/guardians. New members always welcome, bring your friends.


Which Team am I in?
Under 15s - Years 10 & 9    Under 13s - Years 8 & 7
Under 11s - Years 6 & 5    Under 9s - Years 4 & 3
Under 7s – Years 2, 1 & Reception

Equipment required
Players will be provided with team shirts to wear during matches. Also for playing in matches you will need white trousers, a box and suitable trainers or cricket boots. Pads, helmets and bats can be borrowed from the team bag for the duration of the match. Of course you can bring your own. Our coaches will be happy to help you in your choice.  For training please purchase a Devizes Cricket Club Junior Training top at £10. These will be on display at the Open Day for you to order.
